A family claim their trip to KFC was ruined after they were served a “red and bloody” chicken wing.
Brian D’Arcy and his family went to the fast food outlet in Bromborough, Wirral, on Tuesday evening but claims his chicken was “raw” and “tasted bloody”.
The 40-year-old, originally from Anfield, said he told the manager that he thought the food was raw and shouldn’t be served to other customers.
KFC say the chicken wasn’t under-cooked and fresh produce can often be that colour when cooked, the Liverpool Echo reports.
Brian said: “We spoke with the manager and they assured us they were cooked and that it was the marinade and spices making it that colour.
“To a degree yes that is believable as the chicken can go red with spices but the taste and smell was uncooked raw chicken.
“I told the manager this and that the wings should be removed and not given to anyone but she wouldn’t listen.”
Brian said some of the other items he purchased were edible but he didn’t enjoy his meal ‘after tasting bloody and raw chicken.’
The family got a refund but told the ECHO: “We did get a full refund, as we went as a family and the other items we purchased were edible but we obviously didn’t enjoy them after tasting bloody and raw chicken.
“Even though we got a refund, we were more concerned that the manager assured us it was cooked and that we were wrong and that they weren’t taking the items off sale as they were clearly not fit for human consumption.”
A KFC spokesperson said: “We’re sorry this guest had a bad experience, that’s the last thing we’d want.
“We have strict processes in place and whilst the chicken doesn’t look undercooked, it can sometimes look like this as a result of cooking with fresh, natural produce.
“That said, it’s Christmas and we’d love him to get in touch, so that we can make it up to him.”
